Who am I?
This is a thought that most people have at some point in their life. As we grow up and become our own person, we develop our own unique identity and display it through the way we walk, talk, dress, and more. Throughout this time we are changing, adapting, and growing with our surroundings.
The same thing happens to companies. Over the last three years, Picmonic has grown, developed, and evolved into who and what we are today. We decided that we wanted our company’s brand to fully represent us and what we stand for. What does this mean?
A refresh to our company branding!
We teamed up with the awesome people at eeko studio to give our brand a boost! We have a brand spankin’ (pun intended) new logo, a bold new avatar, and a vibrant visual style that will represent who we are as a company and give us consistency across all platforms. This allows us to represent ourselves in a way that 100% reflects who we are, what we stand for, and how we want to proceed into the future by continuing our mission to lead and inspire a new era of visual learning.
The rebrand will not affect the functionality of the app in any way! Picmonic will remain the awesome study tool that you have come to know, just with a more refined sense of identity and style.

Best news ever?!
With our ongoing visits to campuses on the Picmonic Tour and appearances at various nursing conferences, we’ve had a recent influx of new users signing up for the Picmonic for Nursing beta. Students and educators alike are excited about the concept behind Picmonic and the benefits that it can bring to the nursing education process. To ensure that these users have a chance to fully try out and use the product, we have decided to extend the Picmonic for Nursing beta period! What exactly does that mean? This means that new users and ongoing users can continue to use the Picmonic for Nursing product free of charge for the immediate future!
Extending our free beta period will give users who are just now discovering Picmonic the same opportunity to try out our Picmonic for Nursing beta for free! Students attending the schools we have yet to visit on the Picmonic Tour as well as students and educators that we will meet at upcoming nursing conventions will be afforded the same opportunity to use the free beta as students and educators from schools and conventions that we have already attended.
We want everyone to have a chance to try out the free beta. When we decide on a launch date we will be sure to give you plenty of notice. In the meantime, relax and enjoy your continuing free access to the Picmonic for Nursing beta and feel free to send us any feedback on the product.

Our app experienced an unintended outage this Sunday, and we felt that this needed to be addressed to all of our users.
Remember how you felt when you didn’t quite live up to your parents’ expectations, but instead of being angry, they were just disappointed? We are feeling that right now. We know that we let you down when you needed us, and that is simply unacceptable. We are truly sorry for those of you who were studying for an exam, and ran into this problem.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, sometimes technology just doesn’t behave like you want it to. While we all do our best to protect against anything ever going awry, this Sunday was one of those instances where a glitch snuck its way in.
Our founders were med students just like you, so they are acutely aware of how frustrating dealing with something like this is when you just want to study- when you NEED to study. It might sound a bit corny, but your pain is our pain. We have a genuine belief in the power of Picmonic, and know that it can make a HUGE difference for you when it comes to crushing it academically.
So it was tough for us to hear how this glitch negatively impacted you. We are always listening. What you might think is just an email, tweet, or facebook post is taken incredibly seriously by us. We love you guys. We know that we failed you. But we’ve picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off, and are going to use this as a learning experience. Thanks for supporting us, even through this imperfection, and having faith that we’re working to make Picmonic better and better every single day. It really means more than you know.
We promise, this incident is not representative of Picmonic, and we do not take this situation lightly. It is our #1 priority to protect our app against such instances to the absolute best of our ability. Of course, just like any company, problems are sure to arise no matter how hard we work to ensure that they don’t. We’re not perfect, and we will stumble. But we will always put you first, always take your feedback to heart, and always work to be the best that we can be. On that note, we’ve implemented new policies and procedures to prevent such outages and keep you better informed in the event we do have a hiccup.
Thanks again for the support and love.

Whether you are in nursing school, job hunting, or out in the work force professional development is a great way to stand out- and especially great to include as part of a NCLEX study plan! There are many ways you can use professional development to network. Here are some reasons why and how to go about it.
Even after you have created, executed, and completed a boss NCLEX study plan some states require nurses continuing education (CE) credits comes time to renew your nursing license. Whether your state does or does not require continuing education, obtaining CEs will help you continue learning and meet some really cool people. Some employers even allot yearly money for nurses to fulfill their CE requirement how and where they want- did someone say VACTION?? I mean conference in another state!
As mentioned above conferences are a way for nurses to obtain CE credits. More importantly they are an opportunity to continue learning; medicine is always evolving and as licensed professionals we should keep up too. Conferences are also an opportunity for to learn about topics that are of interest to you!
Join a Professional Association
Joining state or local associations or professional organizations looks great on resumes and gives you a voice on matters that are important to or directly affect you- this is an easy step to include on your NCLEX study plan. There are associations on a variety of special interest and they can be nursing related or not. Often you are able to set the tone of involvement of the organizations and can vary from attending monthly meetings and casting votes to receiving newsletters. There may or may not be a yearly fee associated with the association and ones with fees often come with perks like discounted conferences and organization swag- all the pens and totes!
The three day on four day off schedule of a hospital job is one of the perks of being a nurse! Volunteering is a great way to explore other areas of medicine you might want to practice and even travel. Medical missions allow you to get to know other health care systems and directly help people in need while traveling locally or globally.
Get involved at work
Does your floor/ unit or hospital have ways for you to get involved? Some places have committees nurses can help serve on, voluntary based classes available, or even volunteer opportunities. Volunteering to take nursing students or help training new graduates is fulfilling and gets you extra help with patient care. When review time comes around your employer will notice and getting involved can pay off- literally!!

Did you come back to Picmonic for a new school year, and have a totally mind-blowing experience when you opened up the Learning System? That’s V2! What’s V2? Well, just keep reading!
We took all of the feedback we’ve received from our students over the past year, teamed up with brilliant scientists and user interface design experts to create Version 2.0 of the Picmonic Learning System just for you… and this is just the start!
With 4 learning modes, improved custom playlists, powerful dynamic search, and improved textual display- V2 will knock your socks off*!
*Picmonic can not be held liable for any lost socks.
Below you’ll find answers to virtually any question you might have regarding this awesome upgrade!
Where did V1 go?
You know how they say nothing ever really gets deleted from the internet? Well, they are wrong. Unlike those Snapchat photos, V1 will not be accessible after August 15th. But have no fear, V2 is a seriously amazing upgrade. Just give it a chance and we know you’ll fall in love.
What are the four learning modes?
The four learning modes are Listen, Explore, Review, and Quiz.
Listen – The inaugural step in learning a Picmonic. Designed to help you connect every key fact to it’s visual character. So that you remember the entire image.
Explore – This step is designed to help you learn the information and the details of every fact within the image. We encourage you to take notes, review the summary and check out the discussion board. Once you have a solid foundation move onto Review.
Review – All the text will now be hidden! You should be able to remember the image. Try and recall every fact from it’s visual representation or character.
Once you’re sure you’ve got all the key facts down, it’s time to Quiz yourself!
Quiz – Here’s the hard part, or the easiest. The picture will now be hidden. Can you visualize the masked characters and the key facts they represent? Can you remember what comes next? This is especially helpful for remembering steps to different processes!
What is the “My Brain” area?
The new name for your Library is “My Brain”. Every single Picmonic that you have subscribed to will be in this area. And eventually… in your brain! MUAHAH!
What is the “Planet” area?
The Planet is totally new! Here, you’ll be able to see ALL Picmonic cards for every single area of study. The Planet (aka: Store) contains every Picmonic from all of our product lines. You can subscribe anytime to gain access to these cards in your Brain. So if you’re an MCAT student who is interested in seeing what Med cards we offer, you can have a little looksee. Think of it like the iTunes store, where you can see everything that’s offered. But just like how you can’t have a song in your library until you’ve purchased it, you can’t actually access a set of cards unless you’ve subscribed to that product as a Premium member.
Soon, everyone will be able to create & share their own Picmonic’s in the Planet!
How awesome is Search?
VERY, VERY AWESOME! You can search for any Picmonic, anytime! Not only can you search by the card name, but you can also search by First Aid page number, characters included in the card!
Click the plus sign on the righthand side of the search results to easily add that card to your playlist.
How do Filters work?
Filters will help you narrow down the cards you’re seeing. If you check off on a certain filter, such as “Flagged”, you’ll see only cards that are flagged on the right. You can now filter by subject area, confidence rating, keywords, and more. You can apply more than one filter at once to find just the cards you’re looking for.
Can I sort by First Aid page #?
Yep! When you’re browsing the Picmonics within your Brain (Library) under the “Group” option, just choose which edition of First Aid you would like to order your cards by!
You can even search by First Aid, Kaplan’s MCAT Prep and a variety of nursing resources by page number using the Search bar at the top!
How do I create a custom playlist?
To create a new playlist, expose your playlist container by clicking the playlist icon in the upper right hand corner of the top navigation, then click the playlist drop down. You’ll see a list of all of your playlists, just click the “New Playlist” option at the top and add cards to it!
To add cards to a playlist, click the plus sign in the upper right-hand corner of a Picmonic thumbnail. It will turn into a blue checkmark to indicate that it has been added to your custom playlist. To deselect it, click the minus sign.
How do I organize my custom playlist?
At the top of your playlist will be a “Sort” dropdown menu. Just choose how you would like your playlist to be organized! You can have it automatically organized by title or confidence rating, or you can create your own Custom Order!
Where did Classic and Creative audios go?
The audio walkthroughs are now titled “Educational” and “Story.” When you’re in the Picmonic Player, just click on the headphones icon (aka Audio Settings) to choose which audio track you’d like to listen to!
You can also adjust this in your Site Settings accessed by clicking on your Profile Badge in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Under “Picmonic Player Settings” you’ll find an option to change your “Default Audio”.
How do I change my password?
If you’ve forgotten your password, just click here to reset it.
If you know your password, but would like to change it, just sign in and click on your Profile Badge (it’s the icon with the tiny person). Under your Site Settings you’ll be able to enter a new password.
How do I enter my school?
In the upper right-hand corner of your screen, you’ll see your Profile Badge (it’s the icon with the tiny person). Click on your Profile Badge, click on the “Edit Profile” option, and you’ll see an area where you can enter in your school.
You can also alter other aspects of your Profile here, like username and email.
Can I change my Profile picture?
But first, lemme take a #selfie!
